Random Annoyance

I wrote here years back a bit about my encounters with the county mental health services. All has been quiet for quite a bit - good caseworker, etc. I even managed to get an individual therapist there when usually there is a 2-3 year wait and access to group therapy. The only issue is, I’ve had to trade a little bit of my sanity for the groups! Since I had a problem with pain pills years ago, the group therapists take issue with me having a couple drinks with friends once or twice a month. Luckily the individual therapist agrees with me that it’s not a problem - but the groups (which aren’t substance abuse focuses) are always awkward when they push me for my “sober date”.

@Lolaze By the way, there is nothing wrong with having a little drink now and them. I’m almost at the end of my humongous martini

Welcome back. 2-3 years is an unacceptable time to wait for help.

Totally. But here unless you pay cash right now, getting therapy is impossible! I lucked out, she had just come to the agency and had room for clients.

I guess you might point out that you don't have substance abuse issues. Hopefully, you won't be coded as someone in denial!

A two or three year wait is too long for someone when they need help.
