You know, 2021 had the potential to be a great year. There was my younger sister’s wedding and the festivities that came with it, the usual holiday season, several little road trips and the best New Kids On The Block concert I had ever attended. And then August 15th happened. My Mom’s health was already up and down, but that was the night we got the call that her heart had stopped at the hospital and they were doing CPR. It was the night everything came crashing down… we lost Momma. :’( I won’t deny that there were bright spots throughout the year. But losing my Mom outweighs anything else that happened in my eyes, and that alone has made 2021 the worst year of my life since 2013 (when we lost Daddy). And on top of that, a good chunk of my family, friends and acquaintances suffered their own problems and losses. :( So even though I’m a few days late, goodbye and good riddance, 2021. I’m not going to miss the anxiety and heartache you caused me and my family. Photo Credit: Pixabay. I just chose something I already had saved on my laptop.

I hope 2022 is better for you all around. I know how a loss can turn your whole world upsidedown. I think you'll bounce back and do just fine.

It's had its ups and downs, but it's been okay. It'll take a while to fully bounce back, if I ever do, as this was my Momma and my best friend.

@tammys85 I know I understand. I was close to my mom, too. Losing her was hard and it took me a while to bounce back. In fact, I don't think I am the same. But, I am doing better. It's been twenty-two years.

@kaylachan I don't think it's possible to ever fully be the same again after losing a parent you were close with. :( I'm glad you're doing better.

Totally understandable! Losing my mom would cancel out any good that happened too.

I'm responding to older comments right now.... But yep. I'll always think of 2021 as the year I lost my Mom.

Your story is almost the same as my life story in 2021 ago. I also lost my mom at the beginning of August 29021 ago. It's very sad to lose the mother we love so much. And it's even sadder at Christmas for the first time we celebrate Christmas without the presence of our beloved mother. We hope that in 2022, happiness and health will always be with us.
