Star – Helen Hunt My Rating **** Genre – Crime/thriller Run Time – 1 hr 40 Minutes. Certificate – 18 Country – U.S.A Awards – 1 Wins & 1 Nomination = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = With multiple streaming platforms making their own movies these days there are plenty of movies to choose from in the winter. I do quite a detailed search on various critic sites to create a list of the ones I want to see and ‘I See You’ is on it. I watched it on Amazon Prime and enjoyed it. Hollywood thrillers can be samey and cliché but this is not and will leave you guessing for a while as it twists and turns. It’s from fledgling director Adam Randall, who skillfully handles the set up, rebounds off the backboard and the slam dunk to finish. A rather withered looking Helen Hunt is the star name to get the film made and Devon Graye provides the clever script. The awards and critics pretty much ignored it with its £1.1 million box office not suggesting a-word-of-mouth hit but the audience that matter on the various film sites that bothered to rate it, liked it and that’s all that really matters when it comes to selecting films for me. ===Cast=== • Helen Hunt as Jackie Harper • Jon Tenney as Greg Harper • Owen Teague as Alec • Judah Lewis as Connor Harper • Libe Barer as Mindy • Gregory Alan Williams as Spitzky • Erika Alexander as Lieutenant Moriah Davis • Allison King as Officer Grace Caleb • Adam Kern as Window Repairman • Jeremy Gladen as Tommy Braun • Teri Clark as Mrs. Braun • Nicole Forester as Mrs. Whitter ===Plot=== Local cop Greg Harper (Jon Tenney) is the chief detective on the case of a missing 10-year-iold boy as the townsfolk join in the search. When another boy disappears a week later a link is made to previous cases from 12-years-ago. They may have a serial killer on their hands. Greg is going through a rocky marriage after his wife Jackie (Helen Hunt) had an affair and their 16-year-old son Connor (Judah Lewis) is resentful. During the investigation strange things start to happen in the family home, music coming on by its own accord, family pictures messed with and the parents unnerved that someone else, or something, is in the home. The film then jumps back to the start and another perspective of the events we have already seen is presented through new players, moving the plot and genre in another direction as the body count rises… ===Results=== As I say, you go into these movies not expecting much, maybe doing other things while you watch the movie, looking at your phone, working on your lap top or checking dating sites etc. After a deliberately labored and slow start to the film, as it teases you what the genre is going to be - maybe be a paranormal horror, a house invasion or a serial killer thriller - the second act of the movie skillfully fills out the unseen what did go on in the first half of the film and skillfully so. The $5 million dollar budget is very well spent and solid acting by all although Oscar winner Helen Hunt wasted in a role she could have texted in, just her 8th film in ten years up to this one. She is very good in the film ‘The Sessions’ from 2012 so seek that one out as well guys. Shame she is now dawdling in her career although starting to look her 57 years so maybe the roles not there nay more. It’s an original suburban suspense thriller and well constructed. One or two moments could be tweaked but you never really know who the villains are until the last act and plenty of surprises to be had. I would definitely give this one a go as well above average for the now tired genre. ===RATINGS=== Imdb.com 6.8 /10.0 (45,234votes) Rottentomatos.com –79% critic’s approval Metacritic.com – 67% critic’s approval ===Trailer=== https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6079516/

Helen Hunt was one of my favorite actresses. Haven’t seen any of her movies in a long time.
