There were some casualties due to Covid, Alysa Liu, Amber Glenn and Brandon Frazier couldn't sake. Alysa and Brandon (along with his partner Alexa Knierim) petitioned US Figure Skating and got named to the team anyway. Gold medal winners Mariah Bell, Nathan Chen, Ashley Caine-Gribble and her partner, and Madison Chock and Evan Bates all get to go pretty much automatically. Alysa replaced a skater who was too young to go, but Brandon and Alexa replaced a pair that skated and came in second. Do you think US Figure Skating was right to replace skaters who actually competed (based on their history of good results) or should only the skaters who competed get to go to Olympics?

This is bad. Can they really find replacements that easy?

These replacements were people who would have been contenders if they hadn't gotten Covid.

That is sad I hope they find enough replacements.

Oh there is no issue finding replacements. The issue is whether the people who were sick and couldn't compete at nationals should replace the people who did compete on the Olympic team.
