Gur or jaggery is a delicious product of Kolkata and Bengal. On Makar Sankranti and poush parban my mother makes pithe pathi sapta with coconut and jaggery. Sankranti is the last day of month of poush. Punjabies have celebrated Lohri yesterday. Many bengalies meet each other and distribute the sweets payesh that is kheer and narus that are also made of coconut.
