The radish plantations are ploughed in January. Generally in West Bengal the farmers use bullocks to plough the fields. In January the leaves come out and the radish grows as roots. By March they will be fit for sale in the market. The variety that is sold in West Bengal is red in colour.

I love radishes and at one time grew them in Latvia when I had a garden, Latvians enjoy the white radishes with red skin and grate them up and mix them with sour cream as a salad,

thanks Marlina yes in India there are 2 varieties one are the red ones while the other are the white ones
