Let's Talk Movies: Barber Shop The Next Cut

I'm pretty sure that just about everyone is familiar with the Barber Shop series of movies. There are three or four of them. I can't remember which. Although, I know for sure there are at least three of them. Unless I am mistaken, this film is the third in the series. It tackles some more serious subject matters than the previous films. Not to say that the prior two didn't touch on some more serious subject matter, but this one goes a step further. If you aren't familiar with the plot of these movies, Ice Cube plays a barber named Calvin who has been a barber his whole life, a trade he learned from his father. This movie takes place ten years after the one before it. The same crew works for Calvin as did in the other movies, although his barber shop that was all male is now co-ed. Which of course causes for some tension and running gags. The neighborhood is changing around them, and Calvin and his cohorts must band together to prove their worth and to save not only their business, but their neighborhood and safety. It's a decent movie, even with Nicki Minaj in it. It's better than the second one for sure, probably a tie with the first one. If I had to rate it, I would rate it a 4 out of five.
