No, not COVID, I got the booster shot. So, just before Christmas I discovered my doctor closed up shop. Right after the new year I called and made an appointment to see someone at the same clinic that my wife is at. I went in today and got both my COVID booster and my flu shot. In a few weeks I'll go in and get my pneumonia shot. I had one back when I was still working, but that was 17 years ago... actually, I retired 17 years ago, I got the shot a few years before that. I've also got scheduled for a bone density test and a mammogram. That'll be in February. I've also got an eye doctor appointment about the same time - the day before... I've been bad about going to the doctor, only going when I needed something, which is why I didn't discover that my doctor had split last summer until just before Christmas.

Wow, you are taking care of everything all at once. That's good that you're taking care of yourself. I just had my booster shot on Wednesday. My arm hurt more this time than the other 2 shots, but it's fine now. I had a lot of achiness the next day. How are you feeling now?

I actually had a low fever when I woke up on Tuesday and my arm is still achy. Yeah, hurts worse than the other two shots. Different person gave it, I got it at the dialysis clinic before. Still, the actual shots didn't hurt that bad. The nurse practitioner didn't want me to get the pneumonia that day, too many at once, I agreed with her. I have had one pneumonia shot close to 2 decades ago, so I also agreed that I probably needed one.

@Kouponkaren I have a history of bronchitis. When I worked for the Health Department here in Texas during the free flu shots I was asked about it. I think I was 49 or would be soon. The person on the phone, someone at least trained to ask the questions even if he wasn't a nurse, said it sounded like I should get it. I did get the flu shot and the pneumonia shot then at the same time. This was LONG before the Time of COVID, so really those were the only two shots being given. My across the street neighbor, who I actually kind of knew from working for The Department of Human Services, was sent home in 2020. She's maybe 5 or so years younger and thinking if they want her to come back, she'll be talking to Employee's Retirement. I'm sure she's got the time - which I didn't but I could buy up to 5 years and only had to buy 4 to make it to the magical age of 70. That's Age + Years worked = 70. Unless you started over the age of 60 or was it 50? I am SO off the topic!

@ElicBxn I didn't want to say anything before but I had gone for my annual checkup last week and my doctor wanted me to get a pneumonia shot and shingles shot this winter as well, but said to get the Covid booster shot first, then space the others out by 2 weeks each and not to bunch them too close together. I am not sure about getting the pneumonia shot. Probably will get the shingles shot though.

That's a lot of medical stuff for me. I hope you're doing great and the shots didn't make your arm sore or give you secondary effects.

it's a little late for hoping the arm isn't sore, it is, but that's why I had the nurse put it in my non-dominate arm. I am hoping I don't get some of those secondary effects, I feel bad enough without those...

@Babino I woke up this morning freezing. Turned the heater warmer in my room. Was still freezing. Also have a bad headache... I've never had much trouble with the flu shot, maybe the two are getting me. I got up, threw the mutts out, fed the nearly toothless boy, got a bottle of pop I keep in one of the kitchen freezers. I want to go in and take my temp, but first I need to deal with brat cats.

While I haven't had one recently, I have had them before... not fun, but not the worst thing I ever endured.

yeah, the doc splitting was really unexpected and disappointing. I know I probably should'a got the mamm and bone thing a while back. Oh well, setting up new stuff at my age...

I had a low fever the next day - honestly the first fever I've had in DECADES - and I felt drained that day too. My arm is still sore today.

How was it? I mean, other people who had their booster shots experienced some kinds of discomfort. I hope you didn’t

I ran a low fever for several hours, and felt achy all day Tuesday. My arm is still sore, but at least the flu shot isn't hurting. The shingles shot gave me lots of achy arm both times I got it.

I know bone density test will show I have bone loss. I doubt I'll have anything in the mammogram, though my mother did have a lumpectomy in her 70s. They gave her some radiation treatments afterward, but only because it was pre-cancerous. Honestly, for someone who feels as bad as I do all the time, I'm annoying healthy...
