Day 220
Psalm 119
Psalm 119:73 JOD. Your hands made me and fashioned me; give me understanding, so I may learn Your commandments.
74 They who fear You will be glad when they see me; because I hope in Your word.
75 I know, O LORD, that Your judgments are right, and that You in faithfulness afflicted me.
76 Let, I pray You, Your merciful kindness be my comfort, according to Your word unto Your servant.
77 Let Your tender mercies come unto me, that I may live; for Your law is my delight.
78 Let the proud be ashamed; for they dealt perversely with me without a cause, but I will meditate in Your precepts.
79 Let those who fear You turn unto me, and those who know Your testimonies.
80 Let my heart be sound in Your statutes; so, I am not ashamed.
Many people believe they alone are in charge of their lives. Everything they do is a product of their making. They got the education that got them the job and income they enjoy.
The psalmist knew who made him. He asked God to give him the understanding to learn His commandments. He depended on God’s mercy to sustain him. The psalmist knew God’s judgments were fair. He asked God to bring shame on those who wronged him without cause. The psalmist prayed for all those who put their trust in God to turn to him for guidance in His Word.
As Christians, you look to those in authority over you in the church to lead you in God’s truth. You want God’s mercy to guide you as you study His Word.
2 Timothy 2:15 Study to show yourself approved unto God, a workman who needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
When you spend time in God’s Word, reading, studying, memorizing, and praying, God will guide you into His truth. You will never be ashamed when God oversees your life.
Let’s pray: Father, I know You made me and gave me Your Word to teach me what I need to know to draw close to You. Help me seek You daily to spend time with You. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
