Going to When We Were Young Fest!

Holy. Hell. When did trying to buy tickets for concerts and festivals become so stressful? I thought I'd be used to this after years of sweating trying to get into Kpop concerts, but no. Me and my bestie waiting in the online queue for three hours before sales even opened, both of us in multiple queues between phones and tablets and laptops. When she sent the small message of "I'm in" I swear I held my breath the whole ten minutes she was away waiting for confirmation that she snagged us some tix. But she got it! Two day festival in Vegas with all these pop-punk bands we listened to as kids. Headliners being My Chemical Romance and Paramore with Avril Lavigne, AFI, All American Rejects, The Used, Jimmy Eat World and so many many more! I'm so excited! Yes, I might have cried a little when she confirmed she scored the tix. Don't judge me, I get emotional over things. It's going to be an epic throwback to my teen and early college years and I can't wait!

My daughter will be so envious of your score. I recognized those bands from her collection lol I remember old school queues. Standing in line for two days to get tickets. Literally camping out in a tent to see the Who. I haven't been to a concert in decades. I hope you really enjoy the show.

I certainly haven't been since covid became a thing. I love music. I love concerts. Just vibing with all your fellow fans, it's a whole different sensation than listening on the radio. And bonus, my sister lives in Vegas so I don't have to spring for a hotel or anything. I can just drive over the few hours from LA, chill there and enjoy!

@akruser13 That's so nice. I can remember the weekend concerts at Iowa Jam and Stone Lake Wisconsin. So much fun hanging out with people enjoying music. I have gone to so many concerts but it seems a lifetime ago. I miss the feel of live music.

There's like sixty something going! I need to hit up a Hot Topic or something though, my geeky comic book shirts don't exactly scream punk lol.

I'm glad you managed to get in. I can see where that would be such a pain in the behind.

It should be! My Chemical Romance? They had to cancel a bunch of their tour dates last time because of Covid so a lot of us have been waiting a long time to see them together again.

Jealous! When I saw that lineup a few days ago, I really wanted to go. I probably have just enough money, but decided it probably wouldn't be worth it, with how much it is and how many bands are just on one day. I can see it being worth it (but maybe still a bit pricey) to go both days, and then see different bands on both days.. Anyways, congrats, and have a ton of fun!

@akruser13 Wait, are you saying the ticket that is $225 is good for BOTH days? If so, then I totally would have went for that. You make a good point about Coachella too. Yeah, I agree with the price level thing as well. Definitely super expensive for the upgrade(s) etc. I guess I never really thought the tickets were too pricey, I just assumed that it's 225 for one day, so 450 for both. If that is the reality though, that's still not bad either. Cheers! I look forward to hearing about the experience

@dilleo I think it's good for both. I'm honestly not too sure because when we were camping the website it said one day, but they changed it to two while we were in the queue and the email they sent my friend when she bought them said Sat-Sun and not just Saturday, but the site said "tickets now on sale for Sunday too!" so I thought it was good for one or the other. It's so confusing lol. Either way I think it's a pretty solid price for what we're getting even if it turns out it's only good for the one day. I hope we can do both though! Same lineup both days but it'll give us a chance to see more bands overall. We can see some of the sets Saturday and hit any we missed on Sunday.

I don't understand how people are calling it pricey tbh. Maybe it's because I live where Coachella is? Because if you broke down the cost of a Coachella ticket into separate days the cost per day is almost the same as this festival's cost when it was only a one day thing. But now the tickets are good for two days since they extended the festival by a day, so each day of this one is now half what a Coachella ticket's daily cost is. And with all these vintage artists and bands who we may never get to see perform again after this I think it's well worth the cost. Now the cost between levels to me is pretty ridiculous for what you get. There's always a jump in like VIP pricing but between GA and GA+? The only extra perks you get for GA+ are a designated entrance and the ability to use the indoor air conditioned bathrooms as opposed to what I assume are the portapotties. The price difference between the two was like $175 or something. You're paying that much extra for bathrooms? Why? In general though, the cost for a single kpop concert ticket has always been around $75+ for the cheap seats for what, two hours of entertainment? Three maybe? This is $225 for over 60 bands you can bounce around between and for like 26 hours of music. I honestly didn't even blink at the price.
