In my family there is a social gathering event every month. The goal is to maintain family togetherness and intimacy, as well as to release homesickness. Usually we do it at home in turn. Sometimes at our house, the next month at our brother's house, and so on we take turns or take turns. So usually at social gathering we will also eat food. The food is varied. But staple foods such as rice must always be there. In addition, fish dishes, meat dishes, noodles, and various kinds of vegetable dishes and chili sauce. And plus desserts such as fruit and pudding or cake. Do you also have a family gathering like our family did? Image is mine.

Your family is very wise to do this, no we don't have a tradition such as yours. We used to invite Mom and Dad over for supper, once in a while. During the summer, we would have a family reunion at the city park. Now, we don't do this any more.

@sinari Now all the older generation is gone, the ones who organized these gatherings.

Yes, this is indeed our family culture. I'm sure after the pandemic season ends, then you and your extended family can hold a reunion.

@kobesbuddy Yes, I also think that the younger generation very rarely has family reunions at this point. Because it has a lot of busyness or business. So they don't have time to do this family reunion.

No we don't have family gatherings here but I really admire you because of the family gatherings you have every month. That photo is so beautiful. Are those small plates on the photo made of leaves?

Yes, we do have a family social gathering culture. Which aims to visit each other and stay in touch. You are absolutely right, the plate is covered with banana leaves.

@mildredtabitha The arrangement and container of this food is a traditional culture in my place. It is a traditional decoration or arrangement of the food menu.

Back when my parents were still living, Saturday was always the day all or part of my family gathered at home for a big meal. I had five brothers and sisters and we were all married with 2 or 3 kids each. It was crowded sometimes and other times there were just a handful of us there. I moved away and missed those big dinners. I got back every so often and it was as fun as I remembered. We would play cards or board games up until dinner. Then after dinner, everyone but Dad would pitch in to clean up and do dishes. Then it was dessert time and we'd go wake up Dad and he'd claim he wasn't sleeping, just resting his eyes lol There wasn't anything special about the food. It was just normal meals. The special part was all of us together. You just gave me a wonderful memory. Thank you for that

It's nice to hear your old story with your family, where you used to often gather with your family and eat together. It is a very beautiful and memorable experience for you. Hopefully it will be together again in your family. Thank you for sharing your wonderful experience with your extended family.

That's quite a variety of food! We are the oldest relatives left on my husband's side. Except for a few cousins, they have all passed.

@LindaOHio Yes, maybe nowadays too many people are busy working or doing business. So there is no time for this family gathering.

Glad to know about it. It's a yummy spread of items. Good by that the family can always stay together and know the happenings in each other's lives. People are so busy nowadays. These events helps to bond

Yes, you are absolutely right. Because the community is currently busy with their respective activities, then once a month we hold a family gathering, so that the intimacy of our family can be maintained. Thank You
