I got good news this week. The Vice Principal at the end of our meeting for my oldest asked if it was okay to place my youngest in a new reading resource group. She told us that her little buddy needs a lot of help and even thought his scores to get and IEP where not significant enough she still wants him to join a group. The teacher putting together the special reading group is currently my oldest resource teacher (special educator teacher). We both agreed with her that it would be best for him. Even told both the resource teacher and vice principal that he has asked why he didn’t have IEP but his sister and brother do. I stated I explained that we all know he has a learning disability it’s just that your needs don’t fit enough boxes yet. That doesn’t mean you won’t it could take a while longer and that’s okay or you many never need it. We will give you as much support as the school can offer and we will work extra hard at home. Both Vice principal and the resource teacher almost both broke down. I know the vice principal tried really hard to fight for him to have and IEP but rules are rules and we will just have to wait.

I'm glad they are working with you even though he doesn't have an IEP. Not all schools would.

Actually all schools have to work with a child because of the no kid left behind. Some schools doe have more resources and abilities to help even thought a child isn’t covered with and IEP. All the IEP states is yes a child has a disability what it is and what services they need or accommodation other then that the school has offer help but with in the guidelines of ability since no IEP.
