Another thing I had been meaning to do for ages was to come up with a solution to our ‘chopstick problem’. Most of our meals are eaten with a knife and fork in the traditional British way, but if we make Chinese or Japanese food I (and the girls - my partner isn’t so keen as he doesn’t have the patience to learn how to use them properly!) like to use chopsticks. It started when I was a student and is just something I’ve done ever since. The snag is that our cutlery drawer contains one of those organising trays with spaces for knives, forks, spoons and teaspoons. The rest of the drawer is then a jumble of other items such as vegetable peeler, garlic press, can opener, large chopping knives, rolling pin, spatula etc. etc. and the chopsticks, with no special place of their own, would just get lost among them and fall to the bottom. Eventually I decided I would make a case to keep them together, so I made this, like a long pencil case. I made it from part of an old pair of jeans, with a zip I had saved from something else a long time ago, and used embroidery thread from a tin full which I inherited to decorate it. And as a bonus I even got a chance to teach Little One some embroidery, which she then used to decorate a gift she made for her teacher! All rights reserved. © Text and image copyright Fleur 2022.

Good idea. I guess we just have too much clutter on the counter-tops already and I didn't want to add to it!

@Fleura That's why I have no space on the counter!
