Day 226 Psalm 120 Psalm 120:1 In my distress I cried unto the LORD, and He heard me. 2 Deliver my soul, O LORD, from lying lips, and from a deceitful tongue. (KJV) People often pray when they’re in trouble and they’ve done everything they know how to do. The psalmist knew he was in trouble and went straight to God asking Him to deliver him from people who lied and slandered him. As Christians, do you pray when people say bad things about you, or do you react in a vengeful manner? Or do you go straight to God in prayer asking Him to take vengeance on those who come against you? Another thing you could do is walk away. Don’t add fuel to the fire. You can walk away only so much before you want to take things in your hands. God knows what you’re going through. He wants you to seek Him to put out the fires of the enemy. Satan knows all the buttons to push. He won’t leave you alone. He will hammer at you until you react in vengeance. When you do, he wins. The best time to seek God in prayer is before Satan starts his attack. You know he will. You need to stand in your armor and let God handle your situation before it begins. Ephesians 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God: 18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; 19 And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, There is no occasion when you don’t need to pray. When you pray at all times, Satan doesn’t stand a chance. He can’t come against you to lie about you or bring accusations against you. Let’s pray: Father, let prayer be my first defense against Satan when he comes against me with accusations and slander. Let Your Word be a powerful sword in my mouth. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. When l encounter a situation which might invite an immediate angry reaction , advice given to me is to take deep breaths and count to 10. After counting will l still react angrily? At what point should l call on God.?
