Day 228
Psalm 131:1 (A Song of degrees of David.) LORD, my heart is not haughty, nor my eyes lofty; neither do I exercise myself in great matters, or in things too high for me.
2 Surely, I have behaved and quieted myself, as a child who is weaned of his mother; my soul is even as a weaned child.
3 Let Israel hope in the LORD from henceforth and forever.
What kind of person are you? What claims do you make about your life? Do you put yourself forward as one who is better than your peers? Or do you see yourself as less than those around you?
David was a man after God’s own heart. He had much to recommend him, yet he didn’t put himself forward. He humbled himself before God, giving Him credit for everything in his life. When his enemies rose against him, David turned to God in prayer. When he reigned victorious in battle, he gave the victory to God. His hope was in God. He asked Israel to have the same hope.
Many Christians put their achievements on display so people can see all they do for God. That’s not what God wants from you. He wants you to put God first in your life, not yourself. David knew he was nothing without God. When he melted down all his achievements in light of what God did for him, they amounted to nothing. Examine your life. Put your achievements in two piles—one pile for God, and the other for you. Which pile has the least number of achievements? Which one has the most? Is there something wrong with the tally? What do you need to surrender to God?
As Christians, you surrendered your life to Him the day you accepted Jesus as Savior and Lord. Since then, you have kept a tally of your work for God. It’s time to surrender your life to God once more, and not only now, but every moment of your day. When you surrender your life to God, the tally will come out right. Your achievements will go to God, not yourself.
Let’s pray: Father, too often I claimed my victories, my achievements as mine, without thinking about how I achieved those victories. Help me surrender everything to You and give You praise for everything in my life. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

It's good you know it by heart. I don't think anyone is successful every time. Have a blessed day.
