You are WHAT YOU EAT

Recently, I found out that sugar is something really harmful to our body not just about the high sugar content that may cause diabetes. Apparently, cancer cells feed on sugar. I heard on audio format from this program called Flemmings Progam and he has provided a lot of useful insights about proper diet. Please share with the rest what you know of that may help us improve our life. So many of us are falling ill at much earlier stage...it's probably our diet!I also know that taking very green or dark and rich coloured vegetables and fruits are better than taking those light coloured ones. The colour has an agent that fights against those cancer causing cells. So, choose a deep green broccoli rather than a light green lettuce!

Unfortunately I am a carboholic. I am not so much into sweets like I used to be but carbs, oh yeah. But that is not really any better because the carbs are sugar anyway and affect your body the same way as sweets. Again it depends on the carbs, some are better than others but unfortunately I love the white rich stuff. Thanks for the info though, I had no idea that cancer cells feed on sugar. I have enough health concerns right now, and that is definitely one I would like to avoid.

That's a very interesting point. Broccli has more antioxidents in it than lettuce. Spinach, brussel sprouts and other such vegatables would be good too.

I've been rather health conscious for a while now and think it is very important. While your advice is sound I'd like to add that too many dark green (especially leafy green) vegetables can causes kidney stones. Doctors immediately look to this or drinking too much soda as the cause of patients kidney stones, so be careful when selecting vegetables. Give yourself a good variety as even too much of a good thing can be harmful.

yes...i also totally agree with you. sometimes too much of good stuff doesn't do good too! I like to have a balanced meal and have alittle of everything. It's good not to be too picky on food or just eating those that you like...you agree?

well a lot of anything will be bad for you. most things we eat (like fruits) have natural sugar, in this case i think they're talking about processed granlated sugar. we should all try to follow a proper diet...it helps keep us healthy, but things like cancer is also genetic. i just say, take good viatamins and exersise and you should be okay =)

I'm glad you posted this. There is a long history of cancer in my family and I wonder a lot about things to do to cut the risk.

I was told that if it runs in the family...chances are, it could be the food as family normally take similar food intake and probably same groups of nutrition. That's also a reason why sometimes doctors also recommend the other family members to go for medical tests if there is long history of similar disease in the family.

Valmiki has put it excellently. We are what we eat. Also a research was done in UK prison where vitamin supplements were given to one group of inmates and the rest did not. The people who received the supplements behaved much better and had less violence compared to the other group.

Param hansa Yoganand - a saint who ate very little mostly fruits or milk.
You are right you are what you eat. The ancient sages of Hindus had done a lot of research on this and had ctegorised the food into three types. Satwa or that which make a person peace loving and kind courteous etc. It increases the satwa or divine qualities of man. The second is Rajas or food which are of mixed nature and give boost to ego like eagerness to gather wealth and things through wealth, to become power ful and rule over other people. The third is the Tamas or darkness . This kind of Food produces ignorance and brute force and makes men more or less like animals.Amongst these the fruits were considered the best, next milk, and then milk products, then cereals, then meat of herbivores and lastly the meat of inferior animals.sugar was unknown as at present. only jaggery came from sugarcane juice and is not harm ful in limited quantities. The nature of the individual changes according to the type of food he takes. So the society had there type of people. sages who ate satwa food alone, Ordinary people and elite who ate rajasic food and thieves, dacoits and marauders who ate any thing.

This is a great insight. I would want to take the satwa. So, besides fruits, what others classify under this group?? :)

centers led to the radio and that it is not the color which helps you to fight against cancer cells , it's rather some can tell that is traced right under the skin of the fruit, so when you remove the peel, make sure you do not take out too much of it or these beneficial chemicals will go into the dustbin with the peel
