Day 230
Psalm 138:1 (A Psalm of David.) I will praise You with my whole heart, before the gods will I sing praise unto You.
2 I will worship toward Your holy temple, and praise Your name for Your lovingkindness and for Your truth; for You magnified Your Word above all Your name.
3 In the day when I cried, You answered me and strengthened me with strength in my soul.
4 All the kings of the earth will praise You, O LORD when they hear the words of Your mouth.
5 Yea, they will sing in the ways of the LORD; for great is the glory of the LORD.
6 Though the LORD be high, yet hath He respect unto the lowly, but the proud He knows afar off.
7 Though I walk in the midst of trouble, You will revive me; You will stretch forth Your hand against the wrath of my enemies, and Your right hand will save me.
8 The LORD will perfect that which concerns me; Your mercy, O LORD, endures forever; forsake not the works of Your own hands.
Do you need encouragement? How do you encourage yourself? Many people look at what they can do with their hands, with their knowledge. They read, study, and prove to themselves they can and will get ahead without help from anyone.
David encouraged himself in the Lord. In his prayer, you can see how he encouraged himself in God. He praised God for being there when he needed Him. David acknowledged God’s presence in every part of his life, whether dealing with enemies or safe at home.
As Christians, prayer should be close to your heart. When you praise God, you’re giving Him credit for what He accomplished in your life. When you face trouble, you turn to Him for help, knowing He will come to your aid. God promised to be with you in every situation of your life. He will defend you against your enemies and strengthen you when you don’t know which way to turn. In good times and bad, God is there for you. You only need to reach out to Him and acknowledge His presence in your life.
Let’s pray: Father, You know everything about me, yet You want to hear from me. Help me praise You when life is good and turn to You when Satan comes against me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
