Day 233 Psalm 141:1 LORD, I cry unto You; make haste unto me; give ear unto my voice, when I cry unto You. 2 Let my prayer be set forth before You like incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice. 3 Set a watch, O LORD, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips. 4 Incline not my heart to any evil thing, to practice wicked works with men who work iniquity; and let me not eat of their dainties. 5 Let the righteous smite me; it shall be a kindness; and let him reprove me; it shall be an excellent oil, which shall not break my head; for yet my prayer also shall be in their calamities. 6 When their judges are overthrown in stony places, they shall hear my words; for they are sweet. 7 Our bones are scattered at the grave’s mouth, as when one cuts and cleaves wood upon the earth. 8 But my eyes are unto You, O GOD the Lord; in You is my trust; leave not my soul destitute. 9 Keep me from the snares which they laid for me, and the gins of the workers of iniquity. 10 Let the wicked fall into their own nets, while I escape. Every day you read or watch news stories. You want justice for everyone who did something wrong. You might voice your opinion about what you heard, but it usually doesn’t go beyond your opinion as you wait for the outcome from those in authority of the situation. When the problem is solved, you also have an opinion about what should have taken place or you rejoice with the outcome. David prayed for God to come against his enemies. He wanted his prayers to come before God as incense and the lifting of his hands as the evening sacrifice. David put all his faith and trust in God to take care of his enemies. He went so far as to ask God to set a watch on his mouth so his opinions wouldn’t sway the outcome. David asked God to keep him free of the enemy’s traps. Many Christians talk about the problems they face. They ask for prayer but fail to pray themselves for God to work in their situation. They rely on Christian brothers and sisters instead of God. It’s time to turn to God and let David be your example when Satan comes against you. When you turn to God first, as David did in every situation of his life, you will see God move and answer prayers. You won’t go first to your brothers and sisters in Christ. You will go to God and then to the prayer warriors in your church. You will pray with them as you ask them to stand with you against the enemy. Only when you seek God first in every avenue of your life, will you see God move and get rid of your enemy. Satan will no longer pose a threat to you. You will pose a threat to him. It's time to take back your life. You can only do that on your knees. Let God hear you and watch Him move on your behalf. Let’s pray: Father, too long has Satan been a thorn in my side. I confess my negligence in prayer and ask You to turn the tide of my faith to focus on You and not on the world. Let me see Satan flee as I fall on my knees in prayer. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Copyright © 1 February 2022 by Valerie Routhieaux Image courtesy of Pixabay.
