This sounds as if you found it on a calendar. But not all so-called calendar wisdom is really wise.
"In our working towards solving a challenge, we end up being innovative." This makes me laugh! How naive can one be? How many people work towards solving a challenge but never achieve anything to say nothing about being innovative?

@MALUSE I think too many "ordinary people" give up on the first challenge and of course, never become great. But look at the case of Thomas Edison...he tried to invent the light bulb 1,000 times and failed every time. But then the 1001 time...success. I think other ordinary people would have given up long before Mr. Edison, and therefore never made it into the history books!

I believe we grow to be,,nevertheless, things don't just fall into place because relentless determination and willingness from the individual's side is really needed

This is so true. Sometimes if we are facing a challenge we can find creative ways of overcoming it. And it is true we shouldn't give up. And you say ordinary people willing to face great challenges end up becoming great. Well, I recently heard a story about a guy who was in debt and was considering going bankrupt. His wise wife told him not to give up, that they would find a way through. He took his wife's advice and they got through it. He's now a successful Pastor and church planter with a network of churches in several countries.

Welcome to myLot. Hope you will like it here. As for me , challenges makes our lives balanced. It also teaches us about things we didnt know existed. Yes, some people turned out to be great because they've learned alot from their challenges but not all of them .
