Getting Caught

Today while I was waiting to get my oil changed, a man came in and was talking to the owner. He asked the man about a person that was working there the last time he had his car repaired. The owned said he fired the man. He said he had bought the place a few years back from the former owner and the man he fired had been working there for 30 years when he took over. After he bought the business, he gave the employee a $300.00 raised since the former employer was paying him hardly anything. The reason he fired him was because he caught the man stealing money from him and found out he was stealing what ever else he could get his hands on. So it makes me wonder, if this man had been working there for 30 years, was he stealing from them ,all them years and just never got caught, or did he just start.

He could've easily done it over the past 30 years. Perhaps the previous owner knew about it, perhaps not. However, he got caught now.

That's true, it's bad when a person does something stupid like that and looses their job.

Wow that's definitely odd. Another scenario is that the new owner might be lying. Both my father and my husband always caught their employees who stole from them quite quickly. I can't imagine how someone could get away with stealing for over 30 years!

That's why I was wondering if he may have just started when he got caught. All I can say is, he must of had a bad habit or something, if he was stealing and he had given him a raise.
