My husband took our 11 year old daughter to band night at the middle school. This is where the 5th graders get to see and hold some of the instruments and see what they might want to do. My husband was good didn’t force her into anything. He did want her to go to each table to make sure she saw all of her options for next year. She circled on a paper they gave her what she liked and didn’t like. My husband after see one of the instruments she wouldn’t stop talking about. So if that is what she really wants to do we do have that instrument at home already and her dad she she can practice with it a little bit in the next coming weeks before she makes and official decision for next year.

When I was in elementary school. I played 1st chair e flat alto sax. A close friend bought me my sax. I wish I would have kept my playing skills.

Here elements kids don’t play instruments unless there parents pay for it since they outside of the school stuff. The same from when I was going to school. It’s middle school and High school. With her being dyslexia I’d it think the instrument will stick for more then a year especially when you have to learn to write music notation which is hard. I know I had to do band theory my LD brain couldn’t do it either.
