I tried to schedule things around the NFL Honors so I could be home to watch them but it never worked out lol. I had EMR class so I had to tape it.
As I sit here now and watch it, I'm laughing. I love this show and it's one of the few left for the season. The jokes were good and I'm pretty happy with the awards turn out.
The Defensive Player of the Year was TJ Watt. It was very fitting that it was presented to him by his brother JJ Watt and singer Katy Perry. It was funny how JJ pretended to not realize his brother was on the list but all in all he most definitely deserved it.
Ray Lewis presented the award for NFL Moment of the Year to Justin Tucker. My man and future husband right there for his 66 yard game winning field goal against the Detroit Lions. I absolutely love that a legendary Raven presented this award to another legendary player who is still making history. Tucker is my favorite player because he's just so good and so genuine. My man lol.
The NFL Player of the year award went to Tom Brady and Jonathan Taylor. It's an award presented by Fedex and they donate to a college of the players choice. Not surprising that Brady was one of those players.
USAA honored Andrew Beck with the Salute to Service award. He is very involved with military charities as well as being a veteran's son. Denver should be proud to have him on their team :)
Mark Wahlburg and Taraji P Henson presented the Offensive Rookie of the Year to Ja'Mar Chase. Being on the Cinncinati Bengals, they had a watch party from the hotel they're currently staying at. So not only is he going to be playing in the biggest game of the year, he gets to take home an NFL Honor! Way to go!
Kelly Clarkson came out to present The Defensive Rookie of the Year to Micha Parsons. For a team that was only mediocre this year and that's being nice, Parsons played hard on field and made a name for himself. He is a very humble rookie and here's to just getting better through the years.
Courtyard Most Unstoppable Performance award went to Joe Burrow in his game against the KC Chiefs. It clenched the North for them.
Rebel Wilson proudly came out to present the Comeback Player of the Year to Joe Burrow. Yet another award for the Superbowl team, Look how far Cincinnati has come from being absolutely crappy to two awards and a chance at the Superbowl.
The Walter Peyton Man of the Year award is one of the biggest awards given out during the Honors. One player from each team is nominated even though all the work they do is important. Russel Wilson, who has also won the award presented this year's award to Andrew Whitworth from the LA Rams.
LaDanian Tomlinson came out to represent Inspire Change and showcase the NFL working toward an end to systemic racism.
The Deacon Ones Award for most sacks in the NFL goes to TJ Watt. He ties the record with Michael Strahan.
Rich Eisen announced the 2022 Hall of Fame Class. Green Bay Packer Leroy Butler, San Fran 49er Bryant Young, Sam Mills, Cliff Branch, New England Patriot Richard Seymour, Art McNally the First Official to get in, The first Jacksonville Jaguar in the HOF Tony Boselli, and Head Coach Dick Vermeil. There's a few firsts in here and all deserving. Congrats Class of 2022 Hall of Fame members.
The fans were honored as well. The NFL Fan of the Year was Atlanta Falcons fan Henry Isen. He hasn't missed a home game in half a century and is considered a fanatic. Congrats Mr. Isen.
Our Fan of the Year, Henry Isen walked out with Cedric the Entertainer to present Coach of the Year. This award went to a very deserving person that I feel earned this honor, Mike Vrable.
Michael Irvin graced us to talk about the change in the NFL. Those of a different sexuality finally coming out in the locker rooms and not only is it now known but it's being accepted with open arms. It's a huge change for the NFL and a good step. The Trevor Project was a huge mention in this segment. I'll be honest, I don't know what it is but it seems like it is invaluable for those of different sexualities.
The Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award went to Mathew Slater. It's a pretty big deal.
Jimmy Kimmel and "Cousin" Sal strutted out. The jokes were good and had me laughing. They presented the Offensive Player of the Year to LA Ram Cooper Kupp.
Michael Madden came on to remember his dad, John Madden. A legendary coach and sportscaster. He made his mark while making so many friends. The man did not make fans, he made friends. We lost him in December and the impact was felt around the world and is still being felt today.
The Inner City Youth Orchestra of LA played as those we lost scrolled on the screen.

So many lost, RIP.
The Celebration of the year went to Christian Wilkins of the Miami Dolphins. It's a thing sponsored by Bud Light and is celebrat3ed every week until now and it's of the whole year.
NFL MVP Peyton Manning presented the MVP award to Green Bay Packer Quarterback Aaron Rodgers. This was the only one I wasn't too happy with but I don't like the guy in general so there's that.
The Honors was an amazing program this year and it's no wonder I love watching it. If you are a football fan, I would recommend watching it. It's funny and at the right times serious.
