Day 254
Jeremiah 10:23 O LORD, I know the way of man is not in himself; it is not in man who walks to direct his own steps.
24 O LORD, correct me, but with justice; not in Your anger, lest You bring me to nothing.
25 Pour out Your fury on the Gentiles, who do not know You, and on the families who do not call on Your name; for they have eaten up Jacob, devoured him and consumed him, and made his dwelling place desolate.
What do you do when you see people acting without regard for their fellowman—people without a conscience, or common sense? Do you shake your head and wonder if everyone has lost their minds and you are the only rational person around?
Jeremiah saw how people behaved, worshiping idols, making idols, acting contrary to God’s laws, and heard the prophesy God gave concerning them and lamented over what he saw and heard. He prayed for God to correct him, to direct his steps, and pour out His fury on those who didn’t call on God’s name.
As Christians, do you act contrary to God’s Word? What or who do you worship? You might tell yourself you don’t worship idols. Yet, when you put anything in first place ahead of God, it’s an act of worship. These might be your job, taking care of your family, recreation—no matter how good these things are and many others, if they hold first place in your life and God is found at the bottom of your priorities, you worship idols. Jesus said you cannot serve God and mammon.
Matthew 6:24 “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.” (NKJV)
Israel and Judah worshiped idols, the work of men’s hands. God warned them what would happen if they continued in their ways—He would destroy them.
If you continue in your ways, worshiping your lifestyle, God has no place in your life. He will discipline you until you realize where your priorities lie and turn from idol worship to God. However, if you don’t get your priorities in line, He will turn you over to a reprobate mind.
Romans 1:28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting;
29 being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers,
30 backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
31 undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful;
32 who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them. (NKJV)
Who are you fooling with your behavior? Pray. Confess your sin to God, and turn back to Him. Get your priorities straight. Jeremiah asked God to correct him. He was God’s prophet. He put God first in everything. If Jeremiah felt the need for God’s correction, you need it too.
Let’s pray: Father, correct me when I put myself first and my priorities get misplaced. Direct me back to You as Jeremiah prayed. Let it be my prayer too. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Prayer can get us through and make us realize there is nothing to idolize for they are just things, I am always just grateful for what I have and for the many blessings the Lord has given me,
