Thing that Kids will do

I was just wondering if those of you who have kids in school (or those listed to contact in case of emergency) recieve a phone call if their child is absent. I went and picked up my grand daughter from school and on the way home she asked me if her dad had told me what my grandson had done. I told no, boy was I surprised when she told me what happened. She said my grandson hadn't went to school in almost a month. My son didn't find this out until about a day before grandson suppose ot go to court. I asked my son how in the world did my grandson get away with that I can see how he got away with it, my son long hours everyday, he has to leave the house a 6;00 am and most of the time doesn't get back home til after his kids do. Before he leaves for work he gets the kids up to get ready for school and then leaves. My granddaughter is 15 and my grandson is 13, old enough to be able to get up and get ready and catch the bus. So all that time my son thought that's what my grandson was doing. There was a couple of times my son didn't have to work, so my grandson would fake being sick. This went on till my son recieved the phone call telling him about his son having to be in court. My son at that time didn't know what was going on, he was shocked when they told him his son hadn't been in school. He said he left right then and headed home. When he got home it was around 12:00 and his son met him at the door. He said with my grandson opened the door he started to say "Dad I" my son said he cut him off and told him that he better shut up because he knew he had been lying to him all this time, that he just got off the phone with his school. My grandson didn't know what to say then. When they went to court, the judge to my grandson that he wouldn't be hard on him this time but if he continued he would be sent to the Juvenile Detention Center and his dad could have to pay a fine and be locked up. Also after this, my son had to go and re-enroll my grandson in school, they said after he messed 10 days he was taken off of their enrollment list. This does make me wonder about the school, why didn't they contact his father after he messed even a few days? I am even written down as a contact for them to reach and I'm always home, I never recieved a plane call ether. Oh and I did want to say why he started messing school, it was because of bullying from some boys in his classroom. I grandson is overwieght, so he said some boys started throwing things at him and calling him names. My son says that things are better now, when he went back to school they changed him to another class, so for now things are a lot better and he no long has to worry about be picked on. I do hope that the rest of the year will be ok for him.

The school should have contacted your son sooner. Here after 3 days the parents are informed and asked for a justification.
