Why would you let someone else reap the fruits of your labour?

I realise that I might be asking the wrong crowd here, since this is a for-pay Q&A/writing site, but anyway ... I see an alarming number of people (including on for-pay/earning sites like Beer Money) asking about the best non-paying blogging/social media sites (like blogger). I also see a lot of people on antisocial media sites (like FaceCrook, Fartloaf and Tw@tter). They tend to have strong and negative reactions to having it pointed out to them that for-pay sites (particularly those that pay in crypto) exist, sites where they can earn at least something for their efforts (reap the fruits of their labour, as it were), instead of giving it away freely for others' benefit (mainly that of the site owners). Je ne comprends pas. What's wrong with these people? Are they stupid, willfully ignorant or both? --- Photo copyright Andrea Piacquadio from/on Pexels

Thank you. I am made of 85% snark; salty, tasty snark ... (and 15% speaking my mind, even if I get into trouble for doing so).

this is a for-pay Q&A/writing site Actually no, it is not. It is a discussion site. Questions are not necessary.

@GoAskAlice Oh, I am glad. I try to ask questions that generate more discussion and are non-judgemental. There are a lot of universal experiences that engender more conversation because it happened to almost everyone.

Is it okay to ask questions? I hope so because I try to draw people out by asking questions.

I like asking what the paying sites are. It is the only way to become aware of what is out there and others' experience using them. Then I investigate for myself. What is wrong with that?

@pbashton This is a discussion group and I don't see a problem with being paid for it. I work on other paid sites also. Many of the topics discussed are not gender-related and could come from anyone. If I do the work, I want to get paid. I do get mad when someone puts their name on my article and posts it on another website.
