The cats and their carriers.

My husband and I have been talking about buying a new bed. Our current one is 8 years old. It's starting to sag, and the box spring is starting to break. However, that presents a problem. Our cat Chilly. The bedroom is his happy place. And, while he'll happily spend time in the living room, we don't want to give him the opportunity to door dart. We can't put him in the office (like the other cats), because he'll fight us and hurt himself doing it. So we decided we needed to put him in a carrier. Since our previous carriers were so old, we bought new ones from chewy. Chilly loves his, and well mama, doesn't seem interested in hers. Hopefully I won't have to force her inside it. Because I know that won't go over well.

Neither of my cats like the carriers. They prefer the beds and sofas and chairs and laps.

So do mine. However, it was good to see Chilly willingly get in his. Makes travel easier when it becomes a thing.

@CarolDM I know very few cats who enjoy traveling. So anything I can do to make the adventure less stressful, since it's usually to the vet, I will do.

I can shove her in if need be and she fits. She didn't like being put in at first, but if I do it for a few minutes at a time, she'll get used to it.

@kaylachan That is true since cats are creatures of habit that can change their habits.

Supposedly, if you put a towel, blanket or some toys in there and leave the door open. They ill go in and check it out and decide it isn't so bad. I haven't tried that, but Nico only goes to the vet and hasn't gone for quite awhile. He is a haealthy kitty.

Yes. You can use toys and treats and things to make the carrier friendly. Keeping it out prior to going to a vet or something, making it a friendly space, is helpful in getting a cat to agree.

Getting cats into carriers has to be very hard. I have never tried it.

It can be hard, if you fight the cat on it. If you make it a fun place they're excitted to get into, then it's a non-issue.
