Life in HK is fast paced. People work hard, gets paid nicely, suceed in their professions fast and even young high school graduates starts and make a living early in life and succeed. But is it all worth it? Being born in HK, making a living and dying in HK. That is all there is to it. Hongkongers, though can afford to be out of HK almost yearly for an escapde to some nice leisure resorts completely unknown to many, they still have to go back to their daily grind and completely forget that their quality of life is very low.
Hong Kong's life and work pace is I think faster than that of New York and Japan. As many Hongkongers will say, "If you can work and live in HK, you can work in any fast paced city like New York- the city that never sleeps.

I tend to agree with you partially! Those people living in HK to make quick money and leave and retire elsewhere when they are still young are clever people that make use of HK's past pace of life.
But I was referring to those locals who is born in HK, study, work and die in HK but never got to enjoy their money when they retire because it is only HK that they have. Well maybe, that is okay with them as they probably do not know anything better, or they judge HK as the best there is.
Past pace life and quick money does not make anyone happy if you are to stay in HK after you retire. Yes,with a big fat bank account on your retirement may sound really exciting, but for all you know and from what I have seen in many that tried to reside after retirement in other places where they not originally from, does not work out for them and they are not happy. These people tend to go back to where they were born. Innate longing?

HK is very modern and even though it is small in size, it is a dynamic city in the Far East. I love the fashion and the city scape there. Well, sometimes the people have to work hard and certainly that is their hometown and unless they can immigrate somewhere else they will have to live in HK forever. Some older generation in Asia do not want to go anywhere else, their family, their children and friends and their processions are all they have and they would not want to give it up.
