Got Any Cool Stories Of Quitting Your Job?

Especially funny ones! Or one of those "Take This Job And Shove It" scenarios. I saw a video with some great "Take this job and shove it" stories a while ago, and reminded me to check out the Reddit channel they were referring to. Unfortunately, I didn't sign in to YouTube, so I have no history, but I do remember the site they got the stories from. I've never been fired, and actually have very good work ethic, but about 20 years ago, I worked at this silly-expensive restaurant full of.... those kind of people. I did prep-work, making salad dressings from scratch, and then when lunch/dinner came around, I mostly made deserts and salads "on the fly". I worked with a really mean woman. Her boyfriend was the kitchen manager, so you can only imagine. I hated the job, but work is work. Well, my first cousin was getting married on Valentine's Day. I asked for the day off in advance, but the manager was dismissive and said "You're going to have to find someone to cover your shift" without even letting me know phone numbers of employees, which I later got from the main manager. No one would pick it up, and I wasn't going to miss the wedding and thought.. I'm not even gonna show up. They're going to be swamped, and most suck at their job... They called me SO many times, it was awesome.

@zhangxueying That's wonderful. I've done something like that, but I wasn't a teacher or in the middle of anything :)

I once had a job in a salon in a mall for exactly one day. I am a retired hairdresser. This salon had a pos coworker for me. She actually had the stupidity to put her hands on me on day one. Looked her in the eye and told her that if she did that again, I would be mailing her hand back to her. She got so scared she called security. Needless to say, I quit that job.

@PinkFloydFan No she wasn't a boss but had been there for years and thought she owned the place. She was dusting with a feather duster and came up to me and started dusting me with it. Well, she was lucky to be standing after that. It was the best that I leave, as she would have lasted precisely one minute after that. Stylists jobs were a dime a dozen for me back then anyway

Wow! Was she a boss or something? That's pretty unprofessional (and stupid) for her to do on your first day. And then having to call security. She probably thought you would fall in line, being new and all. I'm sure she learned her lesson!

I have never being fired from work when I used to work at Dee Pizza delivery in 1986 when I had to leave since the store closed due to lack of sales when I returned from vacation in Panama in the summer. I did have to leave my last employer Domino's Pizza in August 2005 after 20 years of service after my late mom fell ill after Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast area. I did get fired from Inboxdollars.com for quote "Telling lies" on surveys in July of 2021. Now that I do online journalism I have been a liar from either professional women wrestlers for lying about buying pay per view shows in which I told them as well as the promoters "How I spend my money is my business and not yours. Look yourself in the mirror about lying. I hope it does not break since you have a face only a mom could love." on Twitter.
