Where Do You Get Your Inspiration?

I'm in the arts, and inspiration is sometimes half the battle. For me, observing great art and talent inspires me, and motivates me to at least get working on something new or resuming unfinished work.
If I hear a great song, I'll want to write a song. If I see a great movie, I might want to write something.

I am an artist of sorts too. I like to restore old things and return them to their original condition. I use old photographs as inspiration. Much like wanting to write after hearing music or watching a movie, the same want washes over me when I see old photographs of children's toys or furniture. The same goes for new photos of old toys.
The photos help me determine colors or finishes I want to use on my "canvases" that I'm working on.
Unfinished stories are hard to go back and finish because the story may be the same but the author has changed.
In restoring old toys, I can pick up where I left off easily.

Very nice! Are you able to "force yourself"? I wish I could, but if I'm not in the mood, my work isn't very good, and it becomes a waste of time usually.

@PinkFloydFan
I can do restorations without motivation but I need to be on task for the finishing touches.

I get inspired, by just observing and watching TV. The news sometimes.

A documentary can have this effect on me.
