This was always a dream of mine, an unwritten item on my bucket list. I never thought it would happen because I didn't think my husband liked horseback riding.
Horseback riding on the beach! How fantastic was this!
If you have ever gone horseback riding, so many places make you walk slowly. That's what I figured this hour long adventure would be. There were 3 other people riding who had never ridden before so the "leader" led from the back (he was also riding a horse that was still in training) and let me and my husband take the lead. My husband was not a fan of slow riding so he got his horse to trot, and mine just followed suit (because that's what they are trained to do). But then he got his horse to run, really run. They ran so fast my baseball cap flew off my head.
We stopped at the turning point (the horses knew when it was time to turn around) and the "leader" got off his horse and took pictures for us with our camera - from different angles (the ocean behind us, the woods behind us, together, individually) - 24 pictures in all, plus the pictures we had the other riders take beforehand because we had no idea the guy was going to do this. So many identical pictures were taken.
For the record, my husband reached out his hand to me to hold. Don't know why the horses were standing so far apart because when we were walking along the beach the horses were so close to each other our legs were bumping into each other.
This was the only excursion we took on this vacation because it was cheap and it was on site (no hour long bus ride to where ever).
I saw the other "riders" in the dining room that night and asked them if they were hurting (because their horses followed suit and ran as well). They said yes. I said I wasn't because I knew to stand in the stirrups when the horse runs... however the next day... yeah, I was hurting.

I used to do horseback riding when my relatives would visit my late grandmother and my late uncle and aunts in their farm in the Cocle province in Panama.
