Day 281 Joel 1:14 Consecrate a fast. Call a sacred assembly. Gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land into the house of the LORD your God, and cry out to the LORD. 15 Alas for the day! For the day of the LORD is at hand. It shall come as destruction from the Almighty. 16 Is not the food cut off before our eyes, joy, and gladness from the house of our God? 17 The seed shrivels under the clods. Storehouses are in shambles. Barns are broken down for the grain has withered. 18 How the animals groan! The herds of cattle are restless because they have no pasture. Even the flocks of sheep suffer punishment. 19 O LORD, to You I cry out. For fire has devoured the open pastures and a flame has burned all the trees of the field. 20 The beasts of the field also cry out to You for the water brooks are dried up and fire has devoured the open pastures. Does your life look hopeless? Have you gone from crisis to crisis wondering when you will see good in your life again? Israel wandered far from God. Joel lamented the state of the land because God sent devastation to the crops. Nothing grew. There was no harvest. As Christians, your life can dry up too when you don’t spend time in God’s Word, seeking Him when trouble comes your way or turning a blind eye to those around you. What will it take for you to wake up and see the destruction around you? Satan enjoys it when God’s people don’t pray, read their Bibles, or seek Him when things go wrong. He delights in your trouble. Satan hopes you will forget God and your commitment to Him. God wants to bless you. He wants to see you enjoy the life He has for you. However, He can’t do anything when you don’t spend time with Him. Today is the day. Now is the hour to turn your attention to God and remember the commitment you made when you accepted Jesus as Savior and Lord. You made promises to be faithful, turn your life around, and live for Him. What happened? Renew your commitment today. Let’s pray: Father, I don’t want to be a sideline, Christian. I don’t want to say I’m a Christian, but my life doesn’t reflect You. I want to be a Christian in word and deed. Help me keep my commitment to You and turn back to You with a repentant heart. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Copyright © 22 March 2022 by Valerie Routhieaux Image courtesy of Pixabay.
