Unfathomable to me

193 Republicans in Congress voted against lowering the price of insulin to an affordable amount. I cannot imagine why they would support Big Pharma profits over human lives. Well, yes, I can. They are bought and paid for by the Pharmaceutical company that makes insulin.
Insulin production hasn't been updated or improved in decades. There is no additional research and development cost the company needs to recover. The high price of insulin is the result of only one thing - greed.
I hope those 193 politicians who voted to keep insulin prices sky high sleep well tonight, not that they deserve to.

My first question is, what else was in the bill?
Most often, when important legislation is brought to a vote, many, many riders unrelated to the main issue are included in the bill.
I haven't looked yet at this legislation but my guess is that something objectionable was included in that legislation.
Both parties do this. Sorry, I thought you knew that.

@Vikingswest1 Look up the comments by Catherine McMorris Rodgers. They appear to be indicative of the GOP attitude about lowering the price of insulin. Rep Virginia Foxx also spoke out against capping the price. She claims capping the price on a medicine upon which a company has an unregulated monopoly is an assault of "freedom."

I will take your word for those comments. That attitude is evil. Big Pharma must be contributing many dollars to their campaigns. It would seem to me that they are betraying the people that voted them into office. I hope they will vote them out after this. Elections are just around the corner.
I fail to see where those attitudes are indicative of the entire party as I found many objecting to the riders, considerations and the overall bigger piece of legislation related to Biden's plan. It is not a stand alone bill. There are objections beyond a simple capping of costs.
I will try to find video now for the Representatives you've mentioned. Thank you.

I couldn't find information with 193 members all objecting to capping the cost of insulin. I did find members objecting to parts of this legislation. It has ties to HR 3617, crime and law enforcement and changing House resolution 8, relating to the 2A. There were objections to Medicare being authorized to negotiate prices.
This legislation is just one provision in a much larger piece of Biden's Social and Climate legislation.
I guess I will have to keep looking for GOP members publicly stating the objected to the idea of capping costs for insulin.

I had lunch with a friend today, and I told him that electric vehicles will NEVER become the “norm” because big oil won’t let it happen, and by extension neither will the politicians in the pockets of big oil.
“I’m not voting for that because a Democrat came up with the idea” is not a viable excuse for me. I want to hear a legitimate excuse for why they think it’s okay to give free Narcan to people who are, in essence, doing damage to themselves but NOT to bring the price of insulin down to where a person on disability can afford it AND Raman noodles.
