Greenwood Police Department Officer Sergeant Daniel Cardarelli was given an award by his superiors on April 20 at police headquarters by Greenville Police Chief T J Chaudoin for the actions of the police officer to save the life of a one year old girl who was not responding after she took an illegal drug in the presence of her dad inside of the home of her parents in March 7.
What made the story of Officer Cardarelli great is that he used his knowledge of using CPR on the young girl who needed his help until the first responders would come to take the young girl to a local hospital where she would recover was that had Officer Cardarelli waited for the medical help to arrive, the young girl who have been dead or suffered brain damage from a lack of oxygen.
The father of the child was taken into custody by the police for unlawful conduct to a child since the illegal drugs were in the home where the child could reach them.
I wish more police officers would be like Sergeant Cardarelli and the news media would focus more on their good works instead of the few rotten apples in the force that abuse their power in taking down the criminals.
