YES i heard that somewhere too!.. i have 2 in my car.. driver and passenger. but on the visor it says to work "efficiently" with less risk of harm you should sit as far back from the wheel as possible .. so much for bein safe if your short!!!! cant sit too far back or i got a WHOLE other set of problems to worry about!

My fiance was in a really bad car accident in 2004. His car was totaled, but the other car just had some bumper damage. The airbags deployed and hit so hard that it knocked out his bridge work.

I have an airbag on both the driver side and the passanger side of my van. When I am driving I sit as far away from the steering wheel as I can. Which for me is the seat all the way back. I have heard horror stories about small people like me who get a broken nose or something when the air bag goes off... I try to take every precaution I can..

That is true, however, it does save more lives, than taking them. Nothing is perfect. Yes, we have airbags in our truck.

That's interesting. I wonder if it is dangerous, why they put them in the cars? Shouldn't safety be the first policy? I would think so.

i knew that about airbags, yes my car does have driver and passenger side airbags. Airbags are tricky just like the whole selt belt issue. If you position you seat and sit and the right angle while you drive you are less likely to be injured by the air bag. but then again if you get rearended and get pushed way up to the air bag, yes you can be seriously or fatally injured by the airbag. you are taking a risk either way, just like you take a rish falling asleep every night.

I think that number may have somthing to do with people not wearing thier seatbelts properly. Also, young children are not supposed to sit in the front seat for this very reason. I think that the number you quoted may have something to do with those facts.

That is some disturbing information you posted. I do have air bags in my car for the driver and the passenger. I sure hope that anyone riding in my car does not become a part of of those statistics. You would think they would really work hard to lower the number; 1 out of 22 is too many being killed by the air bags.
