Is Elon Musk's 'Free Speech' the Real Thing? or is it 'Code for Open Hate-Speech'?

They say ... Basically, they say that--if Elon Musk is able to get his purchase of Twitter past the Federal Trade Commission--his idea of "Free Speech" will probably just be code for 'a free pass on racism, homophobia, transphobia and just blatant disinformation.' (like Rupert Murdoch did with FOX NEWS) Elon Musk (or whatever Mr. MoneyBags owns it next) won't change 'that people go to Twitter to express their thoughts and see the thoughts their friends & favorite influencers think,' and--my friend Ambassador Mary Millben assures us--Musk truly will protect 'Free Speech' (the only way I've heard he'll do that--other than maybe 'adding an Edit-button'--is by "not kicking dangerous Tweeters off of the platform"). Your thoughts?

There's a fine line between free speech and hate speech. Sometimes it's blatant, sometimes it's up to personal interpretation, sensitivity, bias and so forth. I don't know if and how hate speech fits to Musk's agenda, I don't know him nor his true intentions. Social platforms don't and can't stop hate, at most they take responsibility for the content that's shared by their users and try to remove the rotten apples. Elon Musk might just think that is not his responsibility, if so he'll be confronted by some congress at some point. At last, it doesn't matter what Musk thinks and what his intentions are. It's what people are going to do about "freedom" that matters. And I'm sure it won't be all sunshine and rainbows.

Maybe that's what most of the "January 6"-rioters thought they were doing. (In case you hadn't heard: On January 6, 2021, there was a big riot by supporters of outgoing President Donald Trump, trying to keep The Legislature from approving the count of the last November's votes. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2021_United_States_Capitol_attack Now, I'm not excusing the violence up there (which failed miserably and resulted in a few deaths); the many people who morphed from 'peaceful protestors' to 'crazy rioters' were already "right on the edge" already, and ... @mythociate They were. They didn't realize violence makes them look bad, and looking bad doesn't help the cause. Then I'm sure there have been conspiracy theories stating these rioters were actually "from the other side" and only acted to make Trump look bad, but that's another story. Perhaps it should be mandatory for people to be administered mental disorder tests and therapy before accessing the internet, not just because of rioters but also for all the sensitive people who can't cope with bullies on their own.

@sabtraversa Kinda like I mentioned to @JimBo452020 below---"Snowflakes," afraid they might 'break' or 'melt away' if exposed to such "burning outrage"

I have always heard the sayings from persons who produce shows that are considered offensive that if what they say is offensive, then change the channel. If what Elon's Twitter writer say something that offends, then turn away from the site.
