Frugal Food/ What's for din?: May 17, 2022

So today was a LOOOONG day, which I will write about in another post before bed (or at least that's the plan) so when I stopped at Wal-Mart this afternoon to pick up stuff for dinner I had a plan. But what's that saying about best laid plans. That they never work out. Something like that. My plan had been to get Conecuh sausage and stuff to make homemade mac and cheese but they didn't have any Conecuh, and the other smoked sausage brands are nasty once you have had Conecuh. So instead I decided to make pigs in a blanket, and scalloped potatoes. Easy enough right? All four of us were home tonight, so this meal fed four people. -50 pack of lil smokies 1/3 of the pack $1.33 -walmart brand crescent rolls $1.34 -walmart brand four-cheese scalloped potatoes $0.89 So to feed all four of us, I spent a whopping $3.56, or roughly $0.89 per person. And that's pretty darn good if you ask me. What did you make for dinner? did you spend more on dinner than I did?

That's too frugal to spend $3.56 for 4 of you. If we convert it to our currency that's equivalent to Php195.80 in Philippine Peso.

@thislittlepennyearns yes it is. There's no price control by the government in our place.

@Nakitakona that has nothing to do with what I'm talking about.

That is a good price for the meal. We had fresh corn on the cob-3 of them which was a total of .99 and each a homemade burger. We buy our beef by the pound and these were about half a pound so $2.25 roughly and then 2 buns of which a package of 8 is 1.99, so that means .50. In total my meal ran $3.75 which I consider to be good. We had sliced pickles, but we have a jar of them and it would be too trivial to consider the value of a couple of them as well as the mustard and ketchup we used.

I would say that it's too frugal. Glad that you all enjoyed it. We made some chicken fried rice ( for my daughters) avd vegetables fried rice for myself in the lunch time. I deliberately made extra to be enough for dinner too
