(maybe 'I saw it again,' but I've seen so many movies inspired by the same idea ...) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_works_based_on_The_War_of_the_Worlds#Adaptions Have you seen it? What did you think of it? Was it better than the other versions? Did it end the same way? (It's been out since 2005, so I don't think I'll "spoil it" if I tell you how it ends---besides, the story's more about 'how the main character(s) handle the attack.') The aliens are defeated the same way they defeat the aliens in INDEPENDENCE DAY---a common virus (to which most humans are immune).

I sensed an allegory there. I keep rewatching War of the Worlds I love it. The scenes I particularly like is when the father assigned the task of filling up the box with food but ended up putting sauces and such. They should have a bug out bag. Also the part where Tim kept interrogating his father what is happening, if it is the terrorist or it came from Europe while Dakota fanning was screaming in panic trying to calm down in her "safe space". That was funny.

I've got most versions I think, except this one! I've got the book, and the original movie from the 60's on DVD. I've got Jeff Wayne's musical version - twice, and 2 other versions on DVD, another film which is not much like the book but I enjoyed it anyway, and a 3 episode TV version. I think the only one I haven't got is the Tom Cruise version and I want to get that one too. I'm a big fan of War of the Worlds. Some people don't like it if they aren't exactly like the book but I don't mind so much, because there would have been many different people involved and it's just like getting somebody else's viewpoint.
