I got through to the doctor, but they are booked today, so I was told that there was a phone or video appointment available tomorrow. Due to my temperamental computer and non-cooperating web cam, I can't do video appointments, so I opted for a phone appointment. After I got off the phone I thought, "Doesn't the doctor have to look at my eye to check for pinkeye? Maybe not---but it just seems weird to me that they could have an appointment for that over the phone.

I know it! That is strange. You would think they would want to see you face-to-face for eye-related conditions.

I would think so, too! I guess I'm supposed to describe it to the doctor?

@xstitcher I am legally blind. I told my primary care physician (in 2019) that I needed a referral to an ophthalmologist. I needed the referral because the health of my eyes needs to be checked once in a while. And my insurance required referrals to specialists). Yet, when I got to the ophthalmologist's office, they said they understood I was there because I had a stye in my eye. My referral request had nothing to do with the stye I had more than a month before I requested the referral, so I was a bit ticked off at both offices. But in the end, it was good that the folks at the ophthalmologist's office finally listened to me because, after a four-year battle with Social Security, that was the day a doctor finally declared me legally blind. I have had low vision since birth. And my sight loss is not solely ocular. It is also neurological, so I always have to describe what I see or do not see to my doctors, and the problem with that is unless the doctor is a neurologist, neuro-ophthalmologist, neurosurgeon, or internist, they cannot see what I can or cannot see neurologically and try to disregard my complaint as "just my imagination once again running away with me." Another ophthalmologist in that same city even told me to see a psychiatrist. Because I firmly believe doctors need to see patients' physical conditions face-to-face, I don't accept medical appointments over the phone unless those appointments are strictly consultations. Regardless, I hope your appointment goes well, and you get everything you need to take care of your eye.

Easy money for the doc. But how can he disgnose the pinkeye if he does not see it?
