Two ripe yellow mangoes dropped from my mango tree on Wednesday morning. My maid saw them and picked them up. They were placed quite high on the tree which would have made it difficult to pluck them. Nature helped us therefore to get those lovely juice ripe mangoes. Since they ripened on the tree itself the taste is very suit. Hope many of my mylot friends have gardens at home. Rains have set in and it's time for mangoes to ripe.

Nice, the fruit came to you. I live in an apartment so no fruit trees.

@oahuwriter I too have a long stick to which is tied a short stick. This serves as a hook the gets entangled to the mango stem. And when we pull it down the mango comes down.

@aninditasen Ok. Locally, many make a fruit picker with a sturdy pole long enough with a cloth sack big enough for the fruit to be tugged off and a husband to use this pole picking gadget.

That looks delicious. How I wish I could have a mango tree in my backyard as well, I remember when I was young we had a very tall tamarind tree in our backyard and up to now, I still dream of it. Often the fruits just fall to the ground because we could not climb that high to harvest the fruits. But I love mangoes more than tamarinds

You can plant one now. It's going to bear fruits within 3years if you get it from the nursery.

@58lordstreet I got my mango sapling from the nursery. It did not grow from a seed and that's why it bore fruit within three years.

@aninditasen yes they seem to grow well from seed , not sure if they are true to the variety as mine never had fruit before I left the country

@aninditasen I do have a flower garden but I don't presently grow my own vegetables or fruit and fruit trees take a lot of care. . Maybe when I retire I'll try growing certain vegetables again.

Ripe mangoes keep on falling because of rains. Is that so?

No, when the mangoes are ripe and yellow they automatically fall from the tree.

How wonderful to have your own mango tree! I love this fruit! Wish I could pluck one right off the tree. That one is nice and green!

No it is yellow. It looks green because of the light reflection.

I didn't have it yet for I was suffering from indigestion. Moreover the mango is quite big and I can't take the whole fruit at a time.
