Pride of Autumn

May 28, 2022 12:31pm CST
Feeling the cold, the freeze and the lazy mode of winter. Visits to my garden and backyard become rare or seldom. But whenever I do, many surprises show up that give me cheer in the midst of chill. Playing with words is kinda fun right now. King Protea is one of my favorites growing in my garden. I had planted this 4-feet tall tree 4 years ago. I learned that it can grow 12 feet high and 6-feet wide, if I let it. I imagine the tree growing exotic king protea flowers and I'd sell them to florists. It would be great to earn some cash as a side hustle selling the decorative proteas. Any advice how to grow a strong, prolific flower-producing protea tree? I'd love to hear it. Thank you.

In my perspective, yes, I do. The 2-years past lockdowns strengthened my view of things as a very good thing. I lost my job, therefore more time in the yard.

So far, it has grown a few branches this year. King Protea trees love barks as mulch. And sun all day. So, that's what I do. :-)

Hey there, that is a very beautiful flower. You could likely cut a few of those flowers with long stems and sell them to local flower shops.
