I know that I am late on my reviews but I'll make it up.
This is the first book in the Aspen Pack series by Carrie Ann Ryan. Though I will warn you that if you haven't read the other books set in this world, you may get lost. I found myself wondering about a few things as I read this book.
The old Aspen pack Alpha had gone crazy and tried to wipe out his own pack. Audrey suffered immense torture during that time both mentally and physically.
She had been away on an assignment as the pack's Beta when she met her mate. In the few short months that they had, they had made plans. He was going to go back to the Aspen pack with her and he was going to be part of the pack with her. They were going to make a home.
When she felt the bond sever she knew it could only mean one thing. Her mate was dead and for years she grieved and tried to help her pack in any way she could against the crazy Alpha until he was taken down.
Now that the Aspen pack was finding their way again to being a healthy pack, Gavin shows up. He was a member of the Thames pack for a while but never blooded in. Knowing that things were changing in America, the Thames pack leader brought Gavin to the Aspen pack to be their new tracker.
Much to Audrey's surprise, this new tracker has her mate's face. Yet, it can't be him. Her mate had died.
Knowing that her status in the pack as well as Gavin's meant that they were going to have to work closely together, Audrey tried to get over herself and what just couldn't be.
There is so much more going on here than meets the eye though.
The black ooze blood that we found in the Talon Pack is back and now we've discovered how pale they are, the red eyes and the fangs.
Vampires are now running amok in the woods and they're out to get the Aspen pack.
Things have been in motion for a long time. Exactly how long...you'll have to read to find out.
I can tell you that it was longer than anyone truly thought and it made my jaw drop.
It's a good beginning and I can't wait to read the next book. Though I think I have to go back and read about what happened to the Aspen pack before now because there were some places I was lost at.
Despite that however, it was a very good book and I would recommend it. Hands down.
Carrie Ann Ryan is one of the best.

I could never get intrested in such stories of vampires, werewolves etc. But my elder daughter just loves it. I should suggest this one to her.

I would suggest Carrie Ann to her in general. I got hooked on her as an author with her Dante's Circle series. It's got a little bit of everything in it.
