Chinese is my native language. I have learned English since I was a grade 5 child. Besides English, I learned a little French but I found it is much more difficult than English. I know a little Japanese.

Wow, That's really cool you can speak 4 languages, I'm really amazed by people who can speak more than 1 language, you're right French is also very difficult I have also tried to learn it.

I only speak English fluently but I have some Irish and Sicilian language from my family. It is hard to learn a language without actually talking to them.

That's cool my English is not that good because I rarely speak English here. I've never heard of Sicilian.

I think speaking English helps a little with learning Dutch, but just a little. You have to constantly practice the language to remember the sentences. You can find people who speak Dutch on InterPals and chat with them, or learn by listening to songs for children (nursery rhymes), so you can sing along and never forget. I only speak Italian and English fluently. I studied French and Spanish at school but I don't get to use those languages very often. I still remember a few things but it helps Italian is similar. I know a few words and sentences in Finnish too.

You'll learn the language more easily when you live in the country and are surrounded by the language. It's advisabe to frequent a language school at the beginning. I speak German (my native language), English, Italian and Russian.

Oh, I heard Dutch is a very hard language to learn. Andre Rieu is Dutch. And he speaks Maastricht dialect Dutch, which is even worse! Apparently it's a lot different to regular Dutch! Me, I'm trying to learn Welsh. And I learned a bit of French at School.

I can speak a few sentences in Dutch language as I heard it often times when visiting my relatives in the Netherlands. For me, Dutch language is more difficult than the German language due to the pronunciation. My native language is Bisayan (from the southern Philippines) but I can speak Tagalog, too. I have learned to speak and write in English language since I was in the Kindergarten decades ago. I speak and write German language since I married and living in Germany.

You can get better at a language only by practicing it. I am fluent in English and Hindi. I can speak, read and write in these two. I am good with Sanskrit too and still learning it. Besides that I can manage talking in Bengali, Punjabi, and Kannada.
