As we enter the month of June, I find myself getting excited about next month. July 4 is one of my favorite holidays. I cherish my American freedoms, and July 4 is the day our country, nationally, celebrates our birth and freedom.
What many don't know, and schools fail to teach, is that July 2 was actually the day the Continental Congress voted to declare ourselves free from Great Britain. That is the day that John Adams wanted for future celebrations of America's birth and freedom. However, July 4 was chosen because that is the date the edited version (edited mostly by Thomas Jefferson) of the Declaration of Independence was adopted.
I am thankful for this country every day and pray daily that we return to our Biblical Foundings. God forgive, heal, and bless America.
