An eventful day shopping.

We had a very eventful day shopping today. My weather app predicted lightning at 12:00 midday, 1:00pm, 4:00pm and 6:00pm! I took my big coat because I thought the weather was going to be bad. I set off first to make sure I could get a vegan breakfast at the pub. I set off at about 10:20am, and I got to the pub at about 11:00am. I even had time to go to the toilet by the Cathedral first! When I got to the toilet it was really hot, so when I came out again I took my coat off and put it in the trolley. When I got to the pub I got my coat out of the trolley and put it on the seat beside me. As I was walking to the pub, I noticed the Jubilee market was by Minster Pool in a walkway called Pool Walk. And then when I got to the Market Square there was a small fair there, with small rides like the ladybirds and a regular merry-go-round. There was a hook-a-duck stall and a stall where you had to throw darts to win prizes. There was a trampoline thing and a food van aswell as a candy floss stall. The pub was having a special Jubilee lunch today and there was a specials board outside. When I got inside there were no menus on the tables, so I went to the bar and asked the chap there if they were still doing the vegan breakfasts, and he said they were, so I ordered my usual: A cappuccino with soy milk and a large vegan breakfast. It cost me just over £12. One of the specials for the Jubilee was a regular breakfast with a drink for £5.49 or something like that! But I had to pay more because mine was vegan! After I'd ordered my stuff, I saw the chap who'd taken my order leave. Then a few minutes later he came back in with a carton of soy milk! He sort of smiled at me and waved it as he went passed! After that my cappuccino came very quickly, but the froth didn't stay very long! Mum arrived at 11:30am which was much earlier than I'd expected her. My lunch hadn't come yet and I was only half way through my cappuccino. She said that my step-dad had given her a lift and dropped her off at the usual drop off point, then she walked the rest of the way. She said she'd seen the fair in the Market Square and she fancied getting some candy floss later. Mum went to order her stuff and when she came back my lunch came. I quickly finished my cappuccino and started on my lunch. I ate the mushroom first because they always seem to go cold quickly. Mum's lunch soon came. She said her froth on her cappuccino had disappeared and I said that happened to mine too. I brought a little manicure set from home so that Mum could use the little nail scissors to cut open the tomato ketchup sachet! Someone had given me butter to spread on my toast even though I'd ordered a vegan breakfast! Well, my Mum's butter was melting in the heat, and she didn't seem to have enough, so I gave her one of mine! I finished my lunch way before my Mum, so I'd said I'd go to the Oxfam bookshop to get some books to read! I took the trolley and I came back with 4 vampire chronicles books by Anne Rice, and 1 Science Fiction book by an author I'd never heard of before but I read the description of the story on the back of the book and it sounded very interesting. The only Isaac Asimov books that they had were ones I'd already got. Same with the Douglas Adams. I couldn't see any Frank Herbert. I went back to the pub and sat down again and started reading the Science Fiction novel. I managed to read the whole of the introduction and chapter one! Then I needed to go to the toilet, so I asked my Mum if I could borrow her walking stick so I could go off to the toilet. (I hadn't brought my walking stick because I'd been pushing the trolley). I was just going to walk out the door and go to the toilet by the Cathedral but then I had a realization! The pub had it's own loo and all I had to do was go to that one so I turned back round and said, what am I doing, I can go to the pubs loo! So I did! When I came back to my seat, I started reading chapter two of my book! But then my Mum finished her lunch and asked me if I was ready to go! When we'd had our lunch we went to Boots to get Mum's repeat prescription, but they didn't have it ready, so she's got to come back next week to get it! Then we went and sat on a bench for a bit, and then we went in the new Tesco Express which recently opened in the Three Spires Shopping Centre. My Mum obviously intended to get something because she picked up a basket. We had a good look round and Mum got some baby potatoes, cereal bars and a bottle of blackcurrant Ribena. After that we went to Riley's for some fruit and vegetables. We got some strawberries, half a cucumber, some cherry tomatoes, radishes and some lettuce. After that we went and sat on a bench again, this time outside Iceland. (The shop, not the country!) Mum let me stay on the bench while she went into Iceland for a few things. She got some frozen stuff including 3 packets of sea bassa for £10 for my dinners on a Thursday. (I only had one left at home). Then we went to Michael's the menswear shop to get Bower programmes and wrist bands. (More about this later). The Bower programme was free and they were outside the shop on a table with a sign that said "Bower programmes: FREE. Please take". So we had 3, one for me, one for Mum and one for my step-dad. Then we went inside to get the wrist bands. They were £2.50 from Michael's in advance, but tomorrow they will be £4 if you buy them at the gate. (They allow you into Beacon Park to see the attractions and entertainment that goes on in there after the Bower). Then we went to see the model fairground in the Guildhall, which was very good. It wasn't very big but the quality of the models made up for the lack of quantity. They had little working models of merry-go-rounds and dodgems and all sorts of things. One even had a tiny fair display with a tiny hall of mirrors! Then we went and sat on another bench. (We seem to be sitting on a lot of benches!) Mum said she didn't want to go into the new bookshop today because she was getting a bit tired and she wanted to go home. Then Mum got 2 very large tubs of candy floss from a stall! They were £3 each for the small tubs and £5 each for the large ones and my Mum chose the large ones! She got one for herself and one for my step-dad. I said I didn't want one. Then we went to Superdrug for some pads and some headache pills. After that we were going to have a look at the Jubilee market, but I noticed that people were already packing up to go home, so we were a bit late. Then we went to the toilet outside the Cathedral. When we were in there I thought I heard some thunder, but other than that we didn't see or hear any thunder and lightning. It's the Lichfield Bower tomorrow. We have a table for 3 booked for 12 noon at The Chapters, a cafe just opposite the Cathedral. We are going to have our lunch there before watching the procession. We booked it up after we'd been to the toilets by the Cathedral, because the cafe is only just around the corner from there. My Mum asked if they did vegan and they said, yes, we have some vegan options, so I'll probably end up with a salad. We set off for home and sat on a few benches round Stowe Pool to rest. I listened to some of the birds tweeting. I took some photos on my phone while we were sitting on one of the benches. Mum phoned my step-dad up to tell him not to worry, we were on our way home and we should be home by 5:00pm. But after we'd set off again, Mum got tired again and we ended up sitting on another bench. Then we started off again. But then something happened to the wheel of the trolley. A rubber thing on the wheel that fell off before must have perished and part of it was catching on the bar that holds the wheels on and it made a loud clanking sound. The wheel looked and felt like it was going to drop off. I had to keep watching it to make sure it didn't drop off and if it looked like it was going to, try shoving it back on again! And then it started to rain! I don't know how I managed to get home without the wheel of the trolley falling off, but I did! I got home at about 6:20pm, just enough time to put the shopping away before Hollyoaks came on. I unpacked the stuff and had a good sit down, because my knees were really starting to ache! I made myself a cup of Matcha green tea. How was your day?

That was close, luckily your wheel behaved. You had a full shopping day with your Mother. I have a pull cart I shop with too. I've a big bag, just in case anything happens to my pull cart while shopping, for it's a few years old now.

Our trolley is a four wheel trolley and we push it in front of us. The wheel that's been playing up is the back left! (It's not actually funny!) I'm glad I managed to get home without the wheel of the trolley falling off! I don't know old our trolley is. We've had it for a while.

@sharonelton It must be much different in your city. Traffic is heavy here and most of us want to get out of it as quickly as possible.. There’s no picnicking or anything like that.

@RubyHawk Oh, I see. Well, We have lots of benches in the city centre for people to sit on and rest and eat their lunches. Some up the three spires shopping centre, some by Iceland and B&M and some by Minster Pool and Stowe Pool. Also most of the city centre is pedestrianised so no cars to disrupt you there.

Thank you for taking me on your shopping adventure, I rarely leave my apartment and do all my shopping online, I have no car and only my two feet to take me anywhere and one knee does not work very well,

You certainly had a busy day. I'm sorry you had a problem with your trolley. My day was OK. The housekeeper came and was able to help my husband with some work he needed done. Have a good weekend.

Thank you very much. Yes, it was a busy day, and I was quite enjoying it until the trolley wheel started playing up! We're getting a new trolley now. My step-dad is ordering one from Argos online. It will cost £45 and it will probably be delivered tomorrow. We might have to pay a little extra for delivery but that's OK. (My step-dad is paying!) Then we'll get rid of the old one. I'm glad your day was OK. I'm glad the housekeeper was able to help your husband. Have a great day.
