Epic Fail

At around 5:30am of Sunday morning, my eldest son woke me up so that we can do our breakfast then we need to go to the open area to send to the sky the do-it-yourself hot air balloon he and my wife created for his school project. We travel about 1 kilometer to reach to the open area.
We set the plastic up high then putting some ethyl alcohol and cotton at the fire holder then I started to fire it up. While I'm holding the plastic, my eldest son do the video recording. The plastic filled with air gas in which that should be going through. In about 30 seconds, the sticks attached into the plastic as well as the fire holder started to create a fire in between that makes the fire holder completely on fire.
To make long store short, epic fail. The project hot air balloon didn't even go through 1 feet high.
Both of us disappointed for what happened. If that be successful one, a plus 2 in the report card will happen. My son, wanted to try another one. But we can't afford to try another one due to time and items to purchase again.
I just told my son that the video you've captured, you can send it to your teacher just to prove that you've tried your best in creating hot air balloon. Compare to his classmates that didn't tried anything.
At least, maybe his Science teacher will give him additional 1 point for trying his best. If I am the teacher. He said, I hope so that.

I also hope that your son's school teacher does give him high scores for his work on his work with the hot air balloon.

I am sorry your son’s attempt to send a hot air balloon into the air failed. But at least he tried, so as a former educator, I will give him an A for effort.

Same as me. If I am the teacher, I'll give him an "A" also not because he's my son. This is to compare to other students who still tried to do this project.

I'm sorry it didn't work out. I hope your son gets some credit for trying.
