5 star government hotels in India are situated only in the metropolitan cities- Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai. The result is today when a cricket match is going on in "Barabati stadium ", Cuttack, Odisha, the criceters had to be accommodated at May Fair Lagoon, Bhubaneswar which is not owned by the government and have exorbitant room charges as well as other charges ( more than 27,000 per person). Isn't it a ridiculous attitude of our government sports and tourism department of India who are wasting the taxes of the Indian citizens? It's high time the Indian government spent judiciously on cricket and hotels. Create government hotels throughout India with top class amenities at a reasonable rate.

The only government-owned and run hotels I know of here in the US are the transient hotels on base for families moving to a new duty station from their previous one.

There are state guest houses in various capital cities for government officers to stay on duty or if they are transferred there, but not for common man. The government should at least have 5 star hotels in all cities in India.

That's the plight throughout the world. The taxes of common man are misused or gobbled by politicians.

Actually the funds are more gobbled by the politicians and some government officials. Sanctioned are made but rarely invested in the project. They are laundered.
