Reflections on Father's Day

I was blessed with a wonderful, godly father. He taught me academically and spiritually. He made such an impact, that there will always be an emptiness until I am with him in heaven.
I am blessed with a husband who was completely devoted to loving our kids, who was completely devoted to putting them before career and hobbies, who was completely devoted to living Jesus before them. Our kids will never be able to accuse their father of compromise or lack of integrity.
Father's Day holds some beautiful memories for me. As wonderful as the fathers in my life have been, they do not hold a candle to my Heavenly Father. Most of my life, I have lived in awe of Him. There have been, though, some periods where my focus got turned elsewhere. In those periods, I let so many other things and people become my first priorities. On one hand, I hate myself for allowing that. How could I ever have allowed that to happen? But on the other hand, I can forgive myself, because He forgave me. He forgave me before I failed Him. There is no adjective strong enough to describe how good God is. So, for right now, I am going to shout about His faithfulness. My heavenly Father is a faithful God. This brings me joy. This evokes humility. This makes me feel loved. This is my reason to sing. My Father is a faithful God.
"I will sing through fire and thunder
Cause You are on my side
I trust You with my life
I know my story, it isn't over
Even against all odds
You are a faithful God
You're a faithful God"

We have Mother's Day in May and Father's Day in June. We have grandparent's day also. I think that is in September.
