The soldiers and the politicians

The soldiers serve the nation and the politicians claim while campaigning for votes that they want to serve the people of their country. In India if political leaders get good pay package and fringe benefits worth crores, on top of that lifelong pension for hardly doing anything for a term five years why shouldn't they soldiers. Our government heads shout that a soldier should not think about his remuneration as he is joining the defence force to serve the nation. So why should the politicians get any monetary benefits? Why don't they serve the people of their country without any payment or fringe benefits?

In my country the same thing happens. All political positions here are commissioned and this damned class of politicians still always manages to raise their respective salaries. Politicians are the biggest culprits for misery, hunger and violence in the world.

@anil02 The election commission should be an independent office and give them the power over these politicians and they should scrutinize the past and present activities of each politician. No man should be allowed to enter politics if he or she is not upright.

Yes why dont they get out on the battlefield and stop talking so much and start putting in some real work and action...they are such hypocrites..they always have instructions for the soldiers and people but not for themselves only greedy pockets and big mouths, I agree

You are right. I wonder if we could have some machinery that would throw politicians out of power the moment they did something wrong like money laundering, unreasonably decreasing people's salaries or raising the prices of essential commodities. Most politicians are now autocrats.

It's the same here. Politicians feel they should have more than everyone else. It's sad really.

@aninditasen I've heard the media call it, Me not Thee. This happened when famous people and politicians were losing their minds that we must wear masks, yet they were seen over and over without theirs.

@misunderstood_zombie That's true. Politicians preach but never do themselves what they preach.

That's debatable. The politicians are the one who made the laws on favor for their well-being and soldiers don't have that duty. They are paid what the laws so stipulated approved by the politicians.

The politicians too have a duty towards the citizens of their country, especially for those who are laying down their lives for their country (the soldiers). Soldiers will definitely do their duty. Do they have any choice?
