Halting at Khalapur enroute Khandala for sumptuous Lunch at KFC

Dear friends this Sunday was a pretty exciting day and I decided to drive my SUV on the Mumbai- Pune freeway. I put my SUV into gear and we set off and decided to halt at the Toll Naka( gate) at a place called Khalapur. The road is simply lovely and there are two tunnels on the way and one of them is pretty long maybe almost 500 yards. It winds through the lush Western Ghat range. It was drizzling as well and the mountains all around looked lovely and lush green. We drove through to the tollway best it all it is automatic and you just drive past and just 300 yards away on the left side is a massive food mall. There must be a minimum of 50 food outlets and we decided to have a bite to eat at KFC and refresh. You can see the dishes ordered in the photograph and consisted of chicken biryani with curry. There was also a big fried chicken burger which is the specialty of KFC and it was a really sumptuous meal we continued further around and had a scoop of natural ice cream. it was a pretty gay atmosphere and you got a feeling that you were not in India but maybe in some foreign place. I recommend going to Khalapur anytime you want to get the blues out of your body and relax.
