Up a little early today because I have a lunch date at noon. That means I have to meet with y’all for breakfast! It’s time to look at another fine song from 1982….meaning, this song that you might hear on the radio today is forty years old this year. We didn’t get old, and neither did these songs! Here’s today’s song. Change of Heart - Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers Oh, yeah, oh oh! I saw Petty on this tour. I even got to meet him ever so briefly (we exchanged “hi”s) after the show. It was a killer show. And I bought this 45: it was on red vinyl with a non-album B-side (“Heartbreakers Beach Party”). This guy made some outstanding music. It’s hard to believe he’s gone. This song, although forty years old this year, is still here, and timeless as ever. Change of Heart Written by Tom Petty Recorded by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers From Long After Dark, 1982 (Today’s 1972 song: “Black Dog”) Looks like we’ve finally reached the turning point:

Tom Petty will forever remain one of my favorite artists of all time, specifically because of his great music, and secondly because he was from Gainesville, where I live!

Indeed he was. And he took guitar lessons from Don Felder, another Gainesville boy!!

@moffittjc — I had a real prude as a music appreciation professor, so if they had been in the same class hopefully they wouldn’t have been flunked for liking “modern music.”

@FourWalls Steven Stills and Bernie Leadon also went to Gainesville High School, along with Tom Petty and Don Felder. Can you imagine if they were all in the same music class together at school? That would have been one awesome class!

Not familiar with this song or much that Tom Petty has done.

Hmm….guess he was a little too “rock” (or a little to 80s) for you.

Me will miss tom's some people deserve god status and he is one because he did not abuse his power of fame, not one day and tried to help people with it.

He was a cool dude, that’s for sure. I’m sorry he had problems that afflicted his health, but pain is one of those things that seems to find everyone’s breaking point.
